Fifi Schmidt – Advanced Instructor-Trainer

Fifi has been involved with horses for her entire life, which probably explains why she is so talented. She started as a child moving into A/O jumpers through college, often pinning highly at finals. After college Fifi turned professional and worked with many wonderful people in the industry such as Anne Sibson, Timmy Kees and Jeffery Welles.

Fifi and her husband, also an incredibly talented equestrian and judge Jay Mullen, formed Birchwood Farms and for over 15 years they were very active buying and selling horses, training and taking clients to shows. They have had several of their horses compete at Indoors In The Green and Working Hunters. Their clients have competed in the Junior Hunters and Medal Maclay, and much more, often earning ribbons at the finals. Now that her children are in school she has down sized the business but thankfully Fifi continues to teach, train and ride professionally including being the advanced instructor and trainer for Belle Wood Stables. Fifi has earned her USEF “r” judges card and when she isn’t teaching or training will be found judging throughout the New England area.

Sarah Grogan – Intermediate Instructor-Trainer

Sarah Grogan has been riding horses since the age of 6, and has steadily competed throughout New England after the purchase of her first horse at the age of twelve. Sarah has a natural talent and passion for all horses. During her college years, she was a co-captian and a great asset to her intercollegiate equestrian team. In Sarah’s adult career, she has become a very accomplished rider in the adult equation and hunter divisions. She has won and placed in many equitation finals across New England.

After showing for many years, she decided to follow her passion as a rider, trainer and instructor, mentoring under Fifi Schmidt, her trainer still and throughout her showing career. Sarah prides herself in teaching her students solid riding skills as well as proper horsemanship. Sarah is often requested to put high quality training rides on boarders and students horses to insure they are in their best form. Turning professional in 2013, Sarah truly enjoys taking clients to rated and schooling horse shows and she is the coach of Clark University’s intercollegiate equestrian team, which ride out of Bellewood Stables.
